China and India are gearing up for the 25th round of Special Representatives’ Talks on the Boundary Question, signaling ongoing efforts to address their longstanding border issues. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun announced the development during a routine press briefing, emphasizing that both nations are actively communicating to implement agreements established in previous discussions.
The talks come as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits New Delhi to participate in the 16th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors and High Representatives on National Security. During his visit, Wang engaged in discussions with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, underscoring the importance of diplomatic channels in managing bilateral concerns.
Guo highlighted that the situation along the China-India border remains stable, with robust communication channels between the two sides. This stability, he suggested, is a result of the active implementation of consensus reached during the 24th round of boundary talks. The upcoming discussions aim to further these efforts, focusing on maintaining peace and stability along the contentious frontier.
The continuation of these talks underscores the commitment of both China and India to manage their border issues through diplomatic means. By adhering to the agreements from previous talks, both countries are working towards a more stable and peaceful boundary, reflecting a broader desire to foster regional security and cooperation.
