Rupert Grint is making a return to his iconic role as Ron Weasley in the Broadway production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” This marks his return to the character over a decade after the final Harry Potter film was released. Grint will take the stage for a 17-week stint starting in February 2027, offering fans a chance to see him once again in the role that he made famous alongside co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

Expressing his excitement, Grint shared that Ron Weasley has been a significant part of his life since he was just 11 years old. He noted that revisiting the character now, with both he and Ron depicted as fathers, brings a fresh yet familiar dynamic to the role. This follows in the footsteps of Tom Felton, who also returned to his role as Draco Malfoy for the Broadway production, with his run continuing until January.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” first premiered in London in 2016 and has since expanded globally, proving to be a massive success with over 14 million tickets sold worldwide. The New York production alone has generated more than $532 million. Grint’s involvement is expected to draw even more attention to the already popular show.

Grint previously made his Broadway debut in 2014 with the comedy “It’s Only a Play.” Since his time in the Harry Potter films, he has appeared in several other projects, including “Knock at the Cabin,” “Charlie Countryman,” and “Nightborn.” His return to the wizarding world coincides with the development of a new Harry Potter television series for HBO, which aims to introduce the beloved story to a new generation.
