China Urges Enhanced India Cooperation to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

In a recent meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between China and India. He highlighted the need to maintain the positive momentum in their bilateral relationship. Wang Yi suggested that both countries should enhance high-level exchanges and expand cooperation in areas such as trade, media, cultural activities, and people-to-people interactions. He also stressed the importance of managing sensitive issues through dialogue and called for greater collaboration on regional and international matters. According to Wang, China and India should join forces to promote multipolarity and advocate for the interests of developing countries.

The Chinese foreign minister also expressed China’s support for India as it hosts this year’s BRICS summit, encouraging further collaboration within the expanded BRICS framework. This gesture underscores China’s commitment to working with India on multilateral platforms and enhancing their partnership within such international groupings.

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s dedication to developing a positive and cooperative relationship with China. During the meeting, he reiterated India’s longstanding stance on sensitive issues, including Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming India’s respect for China’s sovereignty. This reflects India’s intent to maintain a stable and constructive dialogue with its neighbor, despite past tensions.
