Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence and making steady progress towards the country’s national rejuvenation. Speaking at a reception in Beijing marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Xi outlined key areas of focus for the nation, including economic growth, innovation-driven and high-quality development, and improving citizens’ livelihoods. These efforts are aimed at ensuring a robust start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, which spans from 2026 to 2030.
In his address, President Xi also reaffirmed China’s commitment to the “one country, two systems” policy with Hong Kong and Macao, advocating for greater integration of these regions into China’s broader development plans. On the subject of Taiwan, Xi called for enhanced cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation while opposing any moves toward “Taiwan independence” and external interference. He stressed the importance of pursuing peaceful development in cross-Strait relations.
