In a significant development for cross-strait travel, China’s Loong Air has inaugurated a new direct flight route connecting Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Taichung International Airport. This marks the airline’s first service between mainland China and Taiwan, a move aimed at enhancing connectivity between the southwestern region of China and central Taiwan.
The newly launched route will offer flights twice a week, specifically operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The introduction of this service is expected to facilitate greater travel opportunities and strengthen ties between the two regions, providing a much-needed boost to both business and leisure travel.
With the addition of the Chengdu route, Taichung International Airport’s network has been further expanded. The airport now boasts a total of 31 routes, combining both existing services and those announced to commence soon. This includes 20 regular service routes and 11 chartered routes, underscoring the airport’s growing role as a hub for regional air travel.
The Chengdu service joins the ranks of Nanjing and Qingdao, which are the other scheduled destinations in mainland China currently served by Taichung International Airport. This expansion is part of a broader effort to improve accessibility and options for travelers moving across the Taiwan Strait.
