EPC Begins Mass-Producing 100 V GaN Power Stages for Motor Drives

Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has commenced mass production of its new 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family, encompassing models EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111. These ePower™ Stage ICs are tailored for high-performance motion-control applications, featuring integrated high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, along with gate drivers and level-shifting circuitry housed in compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages. With support for operation up to 100 V and current ratings between 20 A and 35 A, these devices are engineered to enhance power density and efficiency while streamlining system design.

The product line is equipped with advanced features such as fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. Additionally, single-input PWM options are available, catering to multi-axis motor-control applications. To complement the ICs, EPC has introduced the EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131 three-phase BLDC motor-drive evaluation boards. These platforms, which are built around the newly launched power-stage ICs, incorporate gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, temperature monitoring, and protection functions.

These new devices are distributed globally through EPC’s network, including partners like Digi-Key and Mouser. They aim to serve a variety of target applications, including humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. Pricing for the EPC23108 and EPC23109 models is set at $3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 models are priced at $2.47 each for orders of 3,000 units. As for the evaluation boards, the EPC91128 and EPC91129 are priced at $640 each, and the EPC91130 and EPC91131 are priced at $630 each.

EPC is also releasing a technical white paper in both English and Chinese that delves into the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms related to these new integrated GaN power-stage ICs. This addition underscores EPC’s commitment to providing comprehensive resources for customers looking to implement these advanced technologies in various applications.
