China is set to enhance security cooperation with African nations, aiming to bolster regional peace and economic stability, as announced by Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun at the 4th China-Africa Peace and Security Forum in Beijing on Thursday. The forum, which gathered representatives from the African Union and 41 African countries, underscores the evolving defense ties between China and Africa.

During his address, Dong emphasized the mutual support and shared security interests that have historically underpinned China-Africa relations. He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration based on equality and mutual benefits, asserting that such cooperation not only contributes to regional peace but also to global stability.

Dong underscored China’s commitment to intensifying strategic coordination with African nations. He outlined plans to expand defense exchanges and deepen maritime security cooperation, which are pivotal areas for both parties. Additionally, he advocated for enhanced cooperation in emerging security and defense fields, aiming for tangible results from existing partnerships.

The forum served as a platform for dialogue on shared security challenges and strategies to address them. The Chinese military’s readiness to engage more robustly with African counterparts marks a significant step in fostering stronger defense relationships, which could have broad implications for regional security dynamics.
